- Potentilla canadensis

Rose Family

A low growing, creeping plant that looks like a strawberry but the flowers are yellow. It spreads by prostrate stems (runners) that root at the nodes like a strawberry but it has 5 leaflets instead of 3. Hence the name - cinquefoil

Stems downy, hairy
Leaflets are rounded, toothed at the top
Below the middle half leaflets become wedge shaped and smooth

Found: Roadsides, fields, my lawn - dry soils
Height: 2 - 4 inch, runners 6 - 20 inch
June - Aug bloom time
