Woodland wildflower
Most forest wildflowers bloom in Spring before the trees leaf out. Dewdrop is one of the few summer bloomers in the deep shade of the mixed woods where it is found.

AKA: False Violet
...not only for the resemblance of the leaves but additionally, like a Violet it produces two different types of flowers. Dewdrop produces two types of flowers. The obvious white 5 petaled flowers appear singly on a reddish, leafless stalk and are mostly sterile. The second type of flower is fertile, lacks petals and is hidden beneath the leaves.
