6 petaled (male) flowers distinguish it from Bur-Cucumber that have 5. One (sometimes a couple) female flowers grow at the base of the flower cluster. The fruit looks like a spiny watermelon and contains 4 flat seeds. It may smell and taste like a garden cucumber but it will give you an upset stomach and diarrhea.
